On a three week trip to the UK, 2 of my crew find Saxon gold coins. coins are currently with the British Museum awaiting inquest and will probably be bought by the museum, Early estimates of value are 3 to 8 thousand pounds each. The finder and landowner will split the procedes.

It doesnt happen all the time. this is the press reports that give that impression In fact? most detectorists find nothing valuable and certainly not like these 2 coins, no way on heaven or earth. The government compensates reasonably and I doubt anyone would choose to have a hoard sitting in their home doing nothing, Imean what would be the point?? so if they were to try and sell it they would not get more than the government would offer anyway, so there isnt any incentive to be dishonest
there? are fee paying trips for groups of them to come to England – about $2000 each I think
ts impossible because those with money have it sown up with the farmers that are prepared to take a large payment for trapsing around on their land. And who are these people willing to pay a large? enough amount of money to get onto the land. Think about it
